About Minehead
Minehead enjoys a mild, sunny climate nestling beneath the foothills of Exmoor, with a wide sandy beach (recently up-graded with families in mind), an attractive, level promenade with sweeping sea views, a picturesque 'old town' and small fishing harbour.
There are an abundance of interesting shops, galleries, tea rooms and cafes, a health & fitness centre, golf, swimming pools, bowling green, family activities and pleasure gardens, all within handy walking distance. |
| Several way-marked paths and bridalways lead up onto the heather-clad slopes of North Hill which has glorious views across the Bristol Channel to Wales, or dramatic sunsets across Porlock Bay and Bossington. Historic Dunster, with its National Trust castle and cobbled village streets, Lorna Doone Valley, Dunkery Beacon (the highest point in Somerset), Cleeve Abbey, the Valley of the Rocks and the pretty village of Lynmouth are just a few places to visit. There are certainly no shortage of ideas for a day out within easy driving distance. |
